Product Owner – Workforce Management Systems – Hybrid – Melbourne

You will lead product development initiatives, manage the product backlog, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver value to our customers.

What your day will look like:

Product Compliance and Leadership:

  • Ensure the product adheres to legal standards and ethical considerations
  • Demonstrate leadership by actively inspiring the team and stakeholders with the product vision and strategic goals

Backlog and Development Management:

  • Create, prioritize, and refine the product backlog to align with business objectives and customer needs
  • Make strategic decisions on feature inclusion for sprints or releases to maximize customer and business value
  • Ensure clarity, understanding, and proper estimation of backlog items by the development team

Team Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with developers, designers, marketers, and quality assurance teams to ensure timely and within-budget product delivery
  • Manage resource allocation and forecasting to optimize team productivity
  • Resolve any roadblocks or bottlenecks that affect the development process
  • Coordinate internal resources for the analysis and design of new features and enhancements

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Actively participate in stakeholder meetings, translating requirements into actionable high-level tickets
  • Present and clarify the upcoming work to the team, ensuring that all members are aligned and motivated

About You:

  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in software development, specifically with workforce management or payroll systems
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Familiarity with regulations and standards applicable to FairWork and modern awards
  • Industry experience in Disability Care, Aged Care, or Pharmacy is highly desirable
  • Strong tactical focus with the ability to manage and prioritize a product backlog effectively
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster an environment of clear understanding and collaborative problem-solving
  • Proficient in Agile methodologies and tools
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is essential
  • Legally authorised to work in Australia
