How to Market a New Product with a Limited Budget

How to Market a New Product with a Limited Budget | vertical market software

There’s nothing more frustrating than having a brand-new product to launch but only a minuscule budget with which to get word out there.

Even if you have a loyal, sizeable customer base, shouting above the din of social media and the other forms of digital marketing they’re peppered with each day is increasingly challenging.

If there’s one thing you should never do as a business, it’s cease marketing. Even with zero budget, it’s vital that you keep making your own noise and continue directing people towards your brand.

Here are some tips we regularly lean on when working with our companies. If you’ve got a product launch on the horizon but very little money in the pot, they’ll help – big time.

Publish amazing content

Not much of a writer? Never filmed a commercial in your life? Good news. You can still create amazing written and visual content for your new product.

Start by scheduling in one blog post per week and use it to talk enthusiastically about a specific feature within the product that solves a problem for your audience. Don’t worry too much at this stage about SEO (keywords, meta tags – all that stuff) – just focus on telling the story and break the blog up into plenty of digestible paragraphs and bullet points.

Then, turn your blog post into a video. Ask someone to interview you about it on a Zoom call and hit the record button. Post the result on LinkedIn, Twitter and any other social platform on which your customers can be found.

The result? Two pieces of content without the need for any content marketing experience. And, if your product really does solve a big problem for your customers, they’ll take note.

Find your niche on Reddit

Have you ever thought about Reddit as a marketing strategy?

If you’ve never used Reddit before, it’s best to think of it as a huge website that contains lots of different forums on pretty much any topic (there’s a useful guide here).

Reddit is a place to interact with people who are interested in the same stuff as you, and if you spend time to find groups that are within your niche, getting involved could be one of the best ways to draw attention to your brand and new product.

The key is to avoid any form of sales tactics. They won’t work. Instead, set aside ten minutes each day to comment and offer your opinion on hot topics in your niche. You can then look for opportunities to drop links to the content you created in our first tip.

Create your own infographics and eBooks

To really make a noise about your new product, you need to get visual. But what if you don’t have the budget for a designer or the necessary skills yourself to make things look pretty?

We’re big fans of Canva, which is an online image creation tool that has an excellent free tier. If you’re not a designer, it’ll help you create infographics and eBooks that look fantastic.

A well-crafted eBook that features a collection of your best blog posts will act brilliantly as a lead magnet. Just pop it behind an email entry form on a landing page and start shouting about it on social media.

If you’ve got some customer feedback or surveys to draw from, turn those stats and percentages into an infographic. Canva will help you do that incredibly easily, too.

Wrapping up

We hope we’ve settled any lingering fears you had about your lack of marketing funds. In fact, there has never been a better time not to have a marketing budget; it forces you to get more creative and take greater advantage of the wealth of tools that are now available.

Go make some noise.
